Revelations of Christ:

Interview with Swami Kriyananda:

“What methods do you suggest for inner communion with Christ?”

The Imitation of Christ, by Thomas a Kempis

Highly recommended by Paramhansa Yogananda

Swami Kriyananda’s recollection as a young monk:

Paramhansa Yogananda had given me and others for Christmas a copy of The Imitation of Christ, by Thomas à Kempis. When I thanked him, he said, “That is a wonderful book. It is no mere imitation of Christ: It is Christ. I don’t often encourage people to read other books, but this one I recommend unreservedly.”

“Thomas à Kempis,” I remarked, “must have been a great saint. Is that so?”

“A very great saint,” he replied.

From the book, Conversations with Yogananda: Recorded, with Reflections, by his disciple Swami Kriyananda

It is available in many bookstores, and below is a free online version:

Also of interest for this season:

“…Yogananda explained that Judas could have overcome the bad karma that ultimately led to the betrayal. Jesus, in fact, predicted his betrayal by Judas in order to warn him, so that he might reform and refrain from committing the evil act…”
